Research Results Outline:熱電変換材料は、熱を電気に変換する材料として期待されており、その性能向上には、高いゼーベック係数、高導電性、低熱伝導率、が重要であるが、既存の材料では熱電変換材料は、熱を電気に変換する材料として期待されており、その性能向上には、高いゼーベック係数、高導電性、低熱伝導率、が重要であるが、既存の材料では、未だ実用化には程遠い。我々は、金属酸化物のドーピングによる電気伝導の改善と多孔質化による熱伝導率...熱電変換材料は、熱を電気に変換する材料として期待されており、その性能向上には、高いゼーベック係数、高導電性、低熱伝導率、が重要であるが、既存の材料では、未だ実用化には程遠い。我々は、金属酸化物のドーピングによる電気伝導の改善と多孔質化による熱伝導率の低下による高性能化について研究を進めてきた。汎用性ある金属酸化物である二酸化チタンを選択し、導電性の発現と向上をめざして、ニオブ(V)の導入を行い、構造を特定した。一方、シリカナノ粒子が規則的に集積したシリカコロイド結晶をテンプレートに用い、ニオブをドープした単結晶性メソポーラスチタニア結晶構造体を作製した。また、ニオブのドープ量に応じて、シリカコロイド結晶の構造を反映した3次元メソポーラス構造体のみならず、2次元的なディンプル構造体も得ることができた。この結果、ドープ元素がチタニアの結晶相だけでなくメソ構造にも影響を与えることが分かった。これまでに得られた材料合成、特性解析、粒子焼結、特性制御に関する知見を基に、現在、低次元金属酸化物の合成、並びに熱電特性の向上に向けた組成、構造の制御を行い、熱電変換特性向上のためのメカニズムの解明を行いつつある。
